William Foster (1841-1918) and his wife Eliza Foster - nee Goble - 1843-1915) are Tom's great grandparents. They lived in Worthing, Sussex.

I don't know a lot about the Foster family in Worthing. I do know they had 4 children: Mary (Polly), William James, Eliza Florence (Lylie) and Maude Alice. Daughter Lylie Foster emigrated to Western Australia and married George Ambrose Miller (of Ringmer) in Fremantle a day after her arrival on 18 March 1913 at Albany. Both Lylie and George knew each other prior to both emigrating to Australia. The Miller family moved to Brighton, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria. Sadly Lylie died 49 in Brighton in 1930, aged 49 when her daughters Gwenyth and Joan were young girls. You can read more about George and Lylie on my

Thanks to the
Friends of Brighton and Worthing Cemetery www.fbwc.org who were kind enough to photograph William and Eliza's grave and headstone at Worthing Cemetery. I was able to find their burial details on the Worthing Council website in 2011 but it appears that the council has merged and the burial information doesn't seem to be available - will keep you posted!
